Hi Russell

Thanks for another lovely week at Lighthouse View..Weather was brilliant too! Plenty of walking with lots of stops in support of local business.

Lighthouse View is perfectly situated within metres of the sea and directly under the Lighthouse. The cottage is a cosy home from home, well equipped and a great base. Numerous footpaths are easily accessible from the front door as are the shops, pubs and restaurants. Further afield are RSPB reserves and National Trust heathland as well as more charming villages and towns such as Aldeburgh and Walberswick.

This was our second stay in your lovely cottage. We had a fabulous time in Southwold. Cold but lots of sunshine. Your cottage at the foot of the lighthouse is very well equipped and feels very homely. We found everything we needed to be there. A stone’s throw away from the beach and shops. We fell in love with Southwold some 15 years ago and we’re glad we found ourselves a new home away from home. We will be back in December 2023.

The Light House is almost in the garden....A magnificent site indeed!

A charming terraced cottage just a few hundred yards from the sandy beach!
Fully equipped with everything you need. Warm and cosy with everything on your doorstop.


Nestled between the local brewery, and a short stroll from independent shops, restaurants, art galleries and more.

A short walk to the harbour for fresh fish sales, or the best cooked fish and chips ever!
Perfect for our long walks, fine food and to recharge.

The cottage was just as lovely as we remembered from last time. Lovely and clean and had everything we needed. After day tripping or being on the beach it was great to return to a comfortable cottage and a great bonus that the TV was smart so able to utilise our Netflix & Amazon Prime accounts.

We would have no hesitation in coming back again in the future.

As ever our stay in Light House View and Southwold is high light to our year, especially the last couple of years as we have all needed a break form the daily grind!

The place is always bright and clean and always looks newly painted and decorated. The addition of the new sofas was a plus too!

We are already counting down the days to our next visit in 2022!!..

If there is to be a negative, it would be that mattress in the main bedroom felt like here was not a lot of support, and left us both feeling a little achy.

But apart from that 10/10!!!!….

Wow! What a lovely little terraced property this is for a staycation right by Southwold beach.

This clean and well-equipped house is perfect for a couple or small family. Thank you to Russ and Sue for dealing with a small issue so efficiently during our stay. Parking was a bit of a struggle, as were restaurant bookings this year, but that has not stopped us booking another visit to Lighthouse View next year.

We were extremely happy with the cottage and, despite there being three of us for much of the week, we didn't feel short of space at all.

We did enjoy our stay in Southwold, although the weather could have been better. Nevertheless, a good time was had by all.

Should we consider Southwold as a holiday stay in the future, rest assured I shall be in touch.

Just to say many many thanks for another lovely week in Lighthouse View. What a gem of a cottage! We’ve had a great time battling the winds and rain but thoroughly enjoyed every minute. We’ve done rugged yomping over to Walberswick in pouring rain and gentle ambling all over Dunwich Heath in lovely early spring sunshine. We whizzed up to Norwich to look at a car ( decided against it in the end!) and met some good people in the Lord Nelson and the Anchor at Walberswick. Also had another great day on Minsmere. Lighthouse view is perfect for us, so well equipped and a real home from home. David ( a far better chef than me) has cooked some cracking meals, local mackerel from the fish man on the market and delicious faggots and calves liver from your butcher. Lots of lovely veg from the fresh veg shop on the square too. All the things we love to enjoy!

We loved staying in Lighthouse View for a long weekend. It is a cosy cottage with real character and charm and a luxurious master bedroom. It is very thoughtfully equipped and the location is stunning with the Lighthouse, Beach and High street all reached within minutes. We would definitely book again.

We just wanted to say thank you for the use of LV again. We had a lovely stay, and the weather wasn't too bad either! The cottage was as welcoming as ever.

We felt like it was our home from home rather than just a rented cottage. Pity it isn't available for our visit next year but we will look around and hopefully will be able to get back into LV in 2020.

What a fabulous house, such a lot of thought has gone into fitting it out, it definitely felt more like a home than a holiday home (if that makes sense!)

Mum and I had a really lovely week - the weather was so-so (wish we were going this week instead as it looks like it's going to be warm and sunny the whole time!) but the cottage was so lovely for just sitting and relaxing in. We both loved it.

Fantastic Cottage!

Such a beautiful cottage with lots of charm. When we arrived we were able to park right out side, the cottage was very clean and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. You couldn't ask for a better location, the sea is literally on the doorstep and all amenities a short walk. The beds are extremely comfy with quality bedding, and we loved the feature bath in the main bedroom.

The owner was great to deal with and very accommodating. We love this cottage and will definitely be back.

Certainly can recommend this cottage. Very clean,. Shows lot's of thought, care and time has gone into the restoration and upkeep of this small house. Everything you need is there: comfortable bed, nice bathroom, shower and bath, kitchen is well equipped.

Recommend to buy some fresh fish at Samatha K's along the Southwold harbour and cook it up in this very "cute" kitchen; amazing how much you can pack into a small space. Beach is only 3 min away. In town plenty of places to shop, eat and taste the now extensive variety of Adnams offerings. Does get a bit busy on the weekends and during season but a wonderful get away other times.

Excellent walks along the beach and into the marches. And you always find your way home having the lighthouse in the garden.

Host is great in responding quickly and answering questions.

We are fans of your cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our second stay. It was cosy and warm on a miserable January weekend and met all our expectations.

We tried to book a week in the summer last year,having first stayed at the cottage in July 2015, but left it too late and had to accept inferior accommodation locally instead. Typically we like to visit Southwold every other year but we enjoyed last weekend so much that we might book a weekend away in the winter again.We would like to book again for summer 2019 and wonder when the booking window would open?

We had a delightful stay at your cottage.

Everything from the first contact with you was very professional and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was just what we were looking for and you had everything covered even down to a last minute present on Christmas Eve that needed wrapping - found some sellotape in the draw!

My favourite evening delight was a soak in the free-standing bath in the bedroom, and I slept so well in your comfy bed. Made me think about putting a bath in our bedroom now. As I was cooking Christmas dinner I was unsure what to take but everything was there to make use of so I need not have worried. Even used the slow cooker which was a great bonus.

It was extra special to be able to see the lighthouse from the bedroom window - we didn't close the curtain as we enjoyed seeing a small shadow across the ceiling as the light came round to us but really you cant notice much at all. And, I nearly forgot it was spotlessly clean which is very important. Would love to have stayed longer but hopefully we will return. Thank you once again.
